What is BIM?

Outline

BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a technology that produces and manages all information applied in various fields throughout the entire life cycle (Life Cycle Cost), from the planning stage to the design, construction, and maintenance stages, based on 3D space and design information

The benefit of BIM is that it connects teams, workflows, and data across the entire project life cycle - from design and engineering to construction and operations - to work better and achieve better results.

The BIM model contains attribute information such as material name or material, and attribute information has the advantage of being able to automate various data processing from design to construction and maintenance by recognizing different materials.

Therefore, the use of BIM improves visibility in AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) projects, shortens the period by linking construction systems, reduces losses due to rework or mistakes, and reduces costs by making faster and more accurate decisions. there is.

Problem

Web visualization of BIM models is difficult.

Currently, in order to apply and manage BIM technology in the construction/civil engineering industry, BIM models are mostly created using BIM-specific software such as Revit or Bentley.

In addition, there is also a need to visualize and manage the information of the BIM model and various data in the building related to it (e.g. CCTV, power, constant temperature, energy, etc.) by visualizing it on the web using this BIM model and linking it with other systems. It is increasing.

However, because this BIM modeling data includes overall detailed information about the building, it is so large that it is difficult to visualize it on the web.

Solutions

We provide a solution to lightweight BIM models and visualize them on the web.

Our BIM solutions provide a comprehensive solution for visualizing BIM models on the web. After going through the upload and parsing steps of the BIM file using the BIM visualization editor, it enables lightweighting of the BIM model while retaining the important information data of the BIM file. In addition, BIM models can be freely accessed from a web browser, helping to link data with other systems and enable more sophisticated visualization.

Advantages of 3D BIM solutions

  • Lightweighting possible through filtering of very large BIM model data
  • Filtering out unnecessary 3D elements such as furniture
  • Massive BIM models cause slow loading speed and memory error issues on the web
  • Improved texture and modeling of the basic BIM model allows it to be upgraded to a more refined and visually superior form.
  • Integrated management is possible by visualizing various data (e.g. CCTV, power, constant temperature, energy, etc.) between the building and other systems based on the BIM model.

Extract the BIM model, IFC file, through commercial BIM software such as Revit.
When you upload an IFC file to the BIM conversion tool, the IFC file is parsed and the BIM model is displayed according to the BIM attribute structure.
Use the BIM editor to select BIM components that need to be preserved or filter out unnecessary components.
The BIM conversion tool creates BIM model snapshots or OBJ files for selected BIM components.
The created snapshots and OBJ files can be loaded in 3D Builder, and in particular, OBJ files can be advanced into more sophisticated 3D models using commercial 3D production tools such as 3D Max and Blender.
Various visualization effects can be provided using the 3D builder, and editing is possible for data linkage with other systems (FMS, CCTV, fire management system, etc.).
As a result, it is possible to automatically create a building based on a 3D BIM model, link the created building components and data from other systems, and even provide a visualization design of the building, making it very easy to build a 3D dashboard for integrated management.
